Responsible Netizenship

The word Responsible (/riˈspänsəbəl/) means being the primary cause of something and so able to be blamed or credited for it, or having an obligation to do something as a part of a job or role. It is also synonymous to the meaning of liable, accountable, answerable and reliable.

The word Netizen or a Cybercitizen is a person that is actively involved in online communities.

If we combine the two words, we would come up with the word of Responsible Netizenship which means a liable person that is actively involved in online communities.

Sounds good to the ears. But if I were to ask every netizen, are you responsible? The majority would say yes, yeah, I guess, I think so, etc. But what are the criteria for you to be counted as a "Responsible Netizenship"?

The cyber community today had spread so fast that most of the populations here in this planet are actively involved in online communities. The new media is being spread liberally to everyone that wants it so that's why I'm not shocked at all. As I speak right now, many people are making their facebook accounts or other related items, many are creating online game accounts, and many are using the Internet right now. Want to see a proof? As I make this blog, there are 46 people online in facebook, by the way, they are my facebook friends, and my cousin has 103 online friends, she is using her phone, and my brother, has 73 online friends, if we add the said numbers we would have 222 online people in facebook right now. What about the other people at home, if we open their facebook accounts, how many are online? I guess that by 222 it will be 300+. I hope that you get the picture in your head, that as you read this article, many people are online too. Why because, this new media is attracting everybody. Why? because its convenient, it has unlimited source of information from educated stuff to totally nonesense, the internet could provide you that. The internet can teach you too how to do stuff how? by going to youtube and search how to do stuff that you want to do and poof, its there.

The internet or the new media is a very convenient stuff, not only you can consume information, you can share your insights too. You want to post a picture so everybody can see it, you can do that too. You are looking for an employee, you can advertise. You want to sell something, you can advertise too. And if you just want to share something, maybe some words of inspiration, a song, a poem or anything related, you can do it too in the internet
.
You've got limitless things that you can do on the internet.
You want to know the glitch? Someone abuses it too.

According to internetworldstats.com, there are 937,407,180 users are there in facebook. That means that there are a lot out there that tend to abuse the use of facebook or the internet itself. When I say abuse, they tend to post questionable stuff out there in facebook. Profanity is legal in facebook, that means you can use cuss words in there. In case you didn't know, profanity is a kind of abuse too. Posting of explicit pictures in facebook is legal as well. Just like this picture for example, people finds it hilarious when they see stuff like this. I call this a kind of abuse. Why? You can tell right? I don't need to go through the details why this photo is not a kind of abuse.
People who likes pictures like this are called perverts, why because they like looking at things like this in facebook, or in a broader point, the internet. There are so many kinds of abuse out there but I use this example because this is the one of the most popular out there. Its so funny  but I therefore conclude that there are many perverts in the internet community.
There is a recent abuse done by a netizen to Chito Miranda and Neri Naig by exploiting their sex video to the net. The couple were humiliated because of the incident that was done. That video should only be for their private use but somehow was exploited.

As a netizen, we should be responsible on what we show to the public. We are not only hurting ourselves when we post questionable things on it, we also hurt others as well.
